Registration for the Tampere Smart City Week conference has begun. The conference, which will take place on 26-28 January 2021, is part of Tampere Smart City Week’s program and will be organized virtually. The conference brings together current themes from several areas of smart city development. Themes cover, for example, innovations in mobility, health technology and education and they will present views for the future.

The main partners of the event are Business Tampere, Business Finland and VTT. The aim of the event is to raise the profile of both Tampere and the whole Finland as a leader in smart city development.

– We have recently received many inquiries about how we could take Finnish digitalisation expertise forward, especially regarding the corona pandemic. The importance of co-operation and the presentation of our wide-ranging expertise will also attract internationally significant players and raise Finland’s reputation as a pioneer, says Pekka Sivonen, Director of European Co-operation at Business Finland.

The conference will focus on a variety of future solutions and innovations. Companies and other organizations have an opportunity to present their solutions to the international audience.

– The partnership with the event was natural for us, as one of our main tasks is to help society develop and companies to grow through technological innovations, says Tapio Virkkunen, Head of Business Development, smart industry and energy systems, VTT.

The event will be held in January 2021 for the third time, but this time in a slightly different way. The corona pandemic also had a major impact on the practical arrangements of the conference and it was decided to be arranged virtually. The program will be broadcasted from Tampere and the city’s experts and innovations will be strongly visible at the event.

– We see the virtual implementation as positive, as it offers us the opportunity to attract more international guests. With the virtual conference, the participant is also offered an opportunity for a more comprehensive event experience: it is easier to participate in the presentations different theme tracks from the home sofa, says Katri Schulze from Business Tampere

A more detailed program of the conference will be published in the first week of January.
